the other night i was running some scans and i think this pc overheated and just shut down. upon restarting i had no audio and when i checked the device manager....... the conexant audio device was GONE !
i have checked all possible software problems and did restore to previous time, tried reloading app's and drivers, tried new drivers, but still get the same response: No Audio Device Found.
question is: if this audio device has gone bad, wouldn't it show some where ? and: i checked the i/o list and it shows all are ok.
am i missing some software or path or is it most likely this device just died ?

also wondering (???) if i should just check on upgrading the device and approuch this problem that way ?
