I found out why my 8800s were running hot. Ater I removed the card and removed the fans I found a WALL of DUST built up between the fan and heatsink. You couldnt see it from the outside at all. I know I have previously blown air through the heatsing but for some reason it didnt clear it out. I should have taken a picture because it looked like a blanket or air filter sandwiched between their. No wonder it would run so hot. Just a eads up for anyone with a 1730. You cannot see this from the outside period. Vacuuming would not suck that mess out either. High pressure air . Bu tthe weird thing is it cant really escape to the outside due to the design. You will just be blowing it into the fan, which will puc=sh it back into the heatsink.
