I atually miss those Dell Kiosks

I prefer buying a Dell straight from Dell, not Walmart, Best Buy, & etc. I want Dell to handle my warranty, not crappy Best Buy. And I had great service on my Dell EPP E1705. I would have preferred to order my next new Dell Laptop after my 4 year warranty expires - from a Dell Kiosk, ... oh, but no more. Gotta do Dell online which isn't bad. But I really like the in person sales from a Dell kiosk. And that they are knowledgeable enough to answer lots of your Dell questions.

Well, how has your experience and warranty service been from a non Dell purchased Dell?

Have they closed some kiosks in the US?

There are still several open around Melbourne (Australia)

With regards to warrenty, etc... it should all still be handled through Dell, not the reseller. They are just selling you a premade system, or essentially ordering from the website like you would. Just another method of getting it out to the masses. At least this is the case in Australia where Dells are resold.

Not on systems sold at Best Buy Stu. In order for Dell to get their systems on Best Buy's shelves they had to also require customers that purchased from Best Buy leave their system repairs up to the incapable hands at Geek Squad. However, systems sold from other retail outlets like Staples, Wal-Mart, and Costco are still serviced by Dell. I've run service calls on a few Wal-Mart Dells and one or two from Costco.

Fair enough. They aren't that widely re-sold in Australia, you can only get them through either Dell, the kiosks or Officeworks.... and warrenty and service is the same no matter what method.

Oh well, I guess that answers the OP's q, avoid best buy but anywhere else and you won't be any worse off.

they closed them all in canada a few months back... was really sudden though because they were looking for staff for one in my city right up until the thing disappeared from that mall.

Last time I went to Best Buy a Dell Rep was plugging Dells there. Maybe that's where to go to talk to a Dell guy!
