Installed the win7 beta on my m1710 yesterday, and after a quick trip to windows update for some drivers, everything worked great with one exception.
Thier is a setting in power management for the processor to throtle the cpu before turning up the fan speed that is enable by default when on battery.
Maybe it was just a fluke with my unit, but when I unplugged it to move to the living room, it got hot, really, really, hot. Way hotter than I've ever felt it get with XP or Vista. As far as I could tell, the fan's weren't spinning at all.
I changed the setting to ramp the fans vs throtle the cpu, rebooted, and it's back to normal.
Again, it might have been a fluke with my m1710, but if your installing win7 on a laptop, you might want to change this setitng before running on battery.
