When's a Sager i7 based notebook coming out?

Who will be the first to market with this?

If they stick with the notebook platform, then Intel's Calpella chipset and notebooks containing it should be released in the summer, June or July. If, however, they try to put an X58 desktop chipset in a notebook, then it could come out at any time after they figured out how to do it.

hmm, disappointing. Long time to wait, IMO.

it's actually fairly normal for Intel. They've released a new notebook chipset every summer for the last 3 years or so. The only difference this year is that they don't have an intermediary CPU release in January to hold people over until the new chipset in the summer.

With notebook sales eclipsing desktops you'd expect Intel and co. to shift their focus to mobile systems a bit more and pick up the pace with releasing new chipsets and processors.

There's been some speculation that they'll be taking your advice for their next architecture rollout (after Nehalem). The speculation says that Intel's Sandy Bridge architecture will debut in summer 2010 with the notebook platform, and the desktop version will be delayed until early 2011.

It looks like Clevo is coming out with a laptop built on the desktop version of the Core i7: http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/01/e...d-clevo-d900f/

I wish I could wait for the mobile versions to come out.

Im suprised Clevo is taking up the new chipset so fast. They tend to wait until tech has established itself before grabbing the new stuff.

Actually, Clevo tends to be one of the early-adopters of technology, especially when it comes to power-user type setups (not so much for the light/portable market, i.e. netbooks). I just hope the price comes down some on the newer models.

With this economy, it might come down.
