M17 Phases

Since I don't want to congest my other thread with phase status updates I figured I'd make a new one in the proper place.

I paid by bank transfer with value 14.01.2009 and was moved into phase 2 today! Not exactly sure what that entails when paying with bank transfer (as opposed to credit card).

Just got moved into phase 5.

Things appear to be moving along smoothly, I had anticipated a delay of a few days in the last phase due to the illuminated German keyboard not being in stock.

Wonder how long the assembly/integration will take...

Received an E-Mail from AlienWare informing me that the hard drives I chose are currently not available and that I have received a free upgrade to the SEAGATE 320GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA HD REV2. Called to confirm that this applies to both of the hard drives in my original RAID 0 configuration.

According to AW there won't be any delays to my order due to this upgrade. An additional 140GB capacity won't hurt.

27.01.2009 After refreshing the order status page at least 10 times on monday with no changes it was moved from phase 5 to phase 9 this morning!

Can't wait to receive my tracking number when I get home from work in the evening.

After reading about the phase game and the seeminlgy endless waits/delays some of the posters here have had to endure this has been quite a pleasant experience. Now I am crossing my fingers that it survives shipping from Ireland to Switzerland and arrives safely on my doorstep in a few days.

The alien landed yesterday on the 02.02.2009, took about a week with DHL but it was unscathed so that's all that matters. Installed updates and productivity software last night, peripherals and games are up next.

I'll post a review asap.
