Thread Starter
Hey;

Just bought my laptop today
I put the blu ray demo disc into the machine after i got it all set up and it played fine, but then somekind of something popped up, and it exited out of the acer arcade which plays te blu rays...then from then on it will not play...
After i put it in now, the little window pops up play with acer arcade r whatever, and after you select it to play it, it revs up but nothin happens or plays so i hav no idea what to do?..
The DVDs and dlink disc both worked after this problem arose so I am hoping someone canhelp me out...

Thanks!!!

My Blu ray is not working either. I've updated arcade. When I put a blu ray disc in the drive revs up and then displays "insert disc"

Hi Stephen
I have also had this problem with the 8930 and other people as well.
Go into -all program- , right-click on Acer Arcade to expand it. Click -uninstall-
Then go into Acer Empowering Technology -
°Click on eRecovery
°Click on Restore
°Click -Reinstall Applications/Drivers
°Click -Allow
°Click -Contents

In the list which follows you will see -Acer Arcade- Click -INSTALL.

You can do this directly if you want, without uninstalling from the -all programs- thing.
You can go directly into -eRecovery- and do what I said above, and it will automaticallly uninstall before reinstalling.

When the wizard has finished installing be sure to click on -finish- pretty quickly, otherwise it will start uninstalling it again etc etc.

Should work with no problem after that. Seems it is a problem for all 8930's.

Hope this helps!

Sorry, it did not work. After re-installing I was directed to cyberlink website for a bluray update, then arcade updated to the latest version and after all that I received the same error... But with a twist: "virus detected in C:/programfiles/arcade/playmovie.dll" or something like that. Seems a bit odd to me. Any other suggestions?

Well it should have worked, but if there is a virus I can only suggest you do a full scan. (presume you have McAfee Internet Security on the comp.) and that should eliminate the virus. Might have to go thru the whole procedure again though afterwards. Not sure, cos when I had that problem there was no virus, it just didn't show -Play Movie-
That is all I can suggest for the moment. Tell me if it works, if not, perhaps I will be able to come up with another idea.

Just did a scan with AVG 8.5.455 and found "Win32/NSAnti" virus on file C:\Program Files (x86)\Acer Arcade Deluxe\PlayMovie\CLHelper.dll. Any advice on how to remove the infection? AVG had no automatic solution..
Thanks

Google "online virus scan" use either Housecall or Bitdefender links.

Once you get it cleaned, suggest you uninstall AVG, then make sure all of whatever free trial AV you had on there is gone...by going to their homesite and using their uninstall tool for that version..if you dont, remenants will be left on you computer and and other AV you download and try and use wont work well.(you can only have one AV programs on your computer at one time other wise all kinds of conflicts)..after all that is done, download, install Avast Free....best going out there...also, download, install, update and run Malwarebytes to get any malware on your machine...do the malware scan every week/2weeks..

I'm downloading Avast now and I scanned my comp with both housecall and bitdeffender and the virus seems to be cleaned. Thanks!
I re-installed Arcade Deluxe and the bluray disc actually loaded the disk menu! Exciting, but nothing happened when I pressed play... The only button that worked was Stop...

Seems to be complicated all this, I know that Acer comes with and recommends McAfee AV. I prefer to pay for an AV. I don't know what you can do to solve the problem, but if you don't have it I would also recommend that you go to CNET and download CCleaner, and clean the registry, because there are always remnants hanging around as Saugen said after uninstalling. I find there are always things hanging around in the registry or missing even after updates have been installed, so I am using CCleaner often to clean the registry, but for the Acer Arcade problem I cannot see a solution there unfortunately.

Whatever trial version of antivirus programs you had on there ie either McAfee or Nortons, you have to go to their homesite and download their uninstall tool to get rid of the remnants...To tell you the truth, I tend to shy away from Reg Cleaners...often more problems than good results...Avast free has better ratings than McAfee or Nortons and a host of others..wouldnt put either one of them on my worst enemies box..resource hogs and dont do their jobs

Hi Saugen, Sorry to have to disagree with you. I never go to their website and use their removal tool. I uninstall directly from Programs and Features, run CCleaner, then stick the new install CD in, and have no problems at all. The 2010 version is better than the 2009 version, it has real-time scanning, and if it locates a virus or trojan it is removed immediately. And there isn't this messing around with customizing, cos it seems that the Free Stuff one can customize. And then it does not cost much after all. Anyhow this still doesn't solve this Acer Arcade problem. And I do not see a solution there at all unfortunately.

That's Great! You have to thank Saugen for that, as I have not contributed much.
But on the subject of Restarts, I never thought of that at the time. But when I have had problems on my comp, I have sometimes spent a couple of hours trying to find out what was wrong, when all it needed was a reboot! so anytime I have a problem now (which is very rare) I always give it a reboot straight off. If that doesn't solve the problem, I check out Device Manager and update the drivers, and if that doesn't do it. I uninstall whatever it is, and then reinstall. That solves almost any problem I might have......anyhow good that it's working now!

Good fix....restarts are always a good thing...not nearly as necessary as with Win98 which required a boot at least once per day...but as mentioned, sometimes clears up those little quirky problems...glad to hear its all sorted out
