Sattelite P105-S9337

Hello, I have a Toshiba Sattelite P105-S9337 that I took into the repair shop and they said I need a new motherboard, I don't see how that would be possible, but maybe someone could shed some light on me

I was using my laptop in a hotel room, everything was working just fine. Prior to going to sleep, the screen saver was on and I simply closed the lid. First thing in the morning, I opened the lid, and nothing! I rebooted several times, pulled the battery, drained it, tried AC only, tried an external monitor, still nothing. When I turn on the power, the lights come on and it seems to run the usual first few seconds prior to the bios screen showing, then stops doing anything. The lights do remain on, and the HD light did flicker initially.

Any ideas on what could be wrong? or am I hosed and it could it really be the motherboard?

*oh, I did adjust the advanced power setting a day prior. I put the maximum CPU speed to 100% and min. to 40% (to eliminate lag/stutter games). Possibly that fried the cpu? (kind of wierd it ran half a day long just fine until I closed the lid.

-Thanks!

yes, I pulled them both out, took apart the notebook down to the motherboard, and nothing looks wrong. Tried booting with a CD too, just wont even attempt to boot.

You mentioned about a possible fried CPU, that would be my next move. Take it out and reseat it, then new thermal paste. Pray. If not then I would replace the CPU next .... and then .. motherboard :-(

cheers ...
