no, it doesn't
it's 64bit and I'm looking for 32-bit VGN-AW21Z/B...
I've found some 32-bit version under Vista but it shows:
"this update is not intended for use with your computer model"

thx, but again the same message...

well, it shows "update" and it is 36MB. Maybe we found updates... But I tried 50MB instalation, too.

You might want first to see if there is an update BIOS version for your comp. Sony is prickly about these things in locking out certain drivers.

cheers ...

Interesting. I've installed it on my VGN AW 11Z/B with no problems. My operating system is Vista Home Premium 32 Bit. My BIOS is updated to the newest version.
Did You try to install this 64 Bit verion of Notebook Utilities? And by the way.Why do not You like 64 Bit Vista?

I think I need 64-bit CPU...

Well, after I reinstalled VAIO Event Service, mute, vol- and vol+ buttons started to work. Soft buttons as play, stop etc work, too.

I don't know why eject button still does't work?

If I understood You have VGN AW 21 Z/B computer. There should be Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T9550 (2.66 GHz) . According to my knowledge it is 64 Bit processor. Installing 64 Bit Vista Ultimate You will eliminate all Your problems. In such a case You can use the instruction posted on the beginig of this forum by crimsontwo.

I didn't realize! WoW!
I know that 64-bit programs are faster, and 64-bit OS can use more than 3GB of RAM.

But what are the cons?

P.S.
Any ideas what is wrong with eject button, while other buttons wok perfectly?

Its hard to say. May be it is mechanical problem of this button. If not software should be reinstalled.
I strongly recommend 64 Bit Vista Ultimate, drivers backup and instruction posted by crimsontwo.
You can also reinstall original software shipped with your computer if you have recovery disks.

One more information. On 64 Bit operating system You can install all Your 32 Bit programs. After installation You will see 2 kind of Programm Files 64 Bit and 32 Bit

This is solution (works for me):

install from Sony:

~ Setting Utility Series
~ Shared Library
~ VAIO Event Service

and if it still doesn't work (it should work), then install Sony Notebook Control Device update from Microsoft:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/ms...9c34248ff0.cab

that's all folks
Great input. Would you link us to the Sony apps that you use from their site?

The CAB from MS - a small description of what it is all about would be helpful.

cheers ...

Congratulation!
But what about Vaio Launcher (AV MODE Button) and Vaio Control Center (Program)? Are they working too?
another problem

I've installed Protector Suite QL 5.6. I've added my fingerprints and after restart I see the message:
"cannot find fingerprint sensor"

Reinstall helps but only until I make restart.

I even add Protector Suite QL Upek Registry Patch
1.24 kb 27/10/2008...

Any ideas?

Open Device Manager (in controll panel) and check if driver for fingerprint sensor is installed.

Coming back to Your solution, could You tell me about program "utilities" You have installed? Where did You find it an may be it is the same as Notebook Utilities.

VAIO Event Service 4.1
VAIO Power Management 3.1
VAIO Launcher 2.1

yes, it is installed and works with Protector Suite until I make a restart. it even works with firefox! and after restart it shows: "cannot find fingerprint sensor" but sensor is present in Device Manager. I'll try to take a closer look of registry patch...

---------- EDIT -----------

I reinstalled Jkolod's sensor drivers and everything work perfectly... default Windows 7 drivers made problems
