M1710 Piece of s**** - Page 5

well the xps16 is not even close to a replacement for an XPS M1730 or even a m1710

Dave I agree and that is why I told them no way. I bought a high end gaming laptop and since they now consider their Alienwares to be there high end gaming laptops that is what I want as a replacement. I don't think that is wrong.

My original 360 finally died and I had the replacement plan at best buy. I brought it in and now with all the price drops I go from a 20 gig regular white 360 to the 120gig black elite edition and got money back because of the price differences.

They didn't offer me a damn wii in it's place. That would have been retarded.

Ok so now Dell came back to me today and offered me a full refund for the system to what I paid for it originally and then I can just purchase what I want with it. Since the account that I used to purchase the laptop is now closed they are going to cut me a check for the full amount.

Have you guys ever heard of this? Do you think this is better? I am just getting so fed up with all this crazyness.

WTF!? How much did you pay for the system? I have NEVER heard of this.

Huh? I've never in my life heard of them offering a refund... wonder what's going on at Dell?

Yeah so they offered a refund. Full refund. I think I paid like 3500 back then or close to it. I should find out later the exact amount. I couldn't remember off the top of my head.

I heard of Dell offering refund to another member here in the recent past as well.

If they are giving you a $ 3500.00 refund I would go for it

you could build a nice m17x with that

or go get a Sager

So whats better in the m17x the Nvidia GTX280m in SLI or the newer Dual ATI HD 4870?
With the GDDR3 memory in the ATI cards it will be a close match.

IMO I think the drivers are better with the NVDIA cards.

Yeah I was told I would get an email with confirmation on all this and the amount I will get back.

They did say taxes will be taken out. Well the tax that I paid on the laptop originally. Whatever. Hopefully I can build a pretty sweet m17x. We shall see.

Mine was quoted for $3,100. With Office SB and Anti-Virus for 36 months, so subtract about $400. Mine can run anything on the market right now, even Crysis but it drops to 25FPS every now and then.

Yeah i'm just waiting on them to find out how much I paid. If I recall it was around $3200.

I'm just trying to configure the Alienware the way I would want it.

let hope that Dell will not use inflation rate as (reverse) part of the equation

Yeah I'm a bit worried as to what they may try and pull on me. I should know by tuesday at the latest I believe. It has been close to a month since this whole mess started.

I built up a m17x but damn it's pricey. I would be fine with one gtx280 but they only offer it in sli.

Damn them!

I want quad core but the cost jumps quite a bit.

Dell just ran into some rough spreads at the moment. Trying to recover in a hard economic environment will be tough, not enough incoming revenue plus lots of outgoing warranty works can make them going nuts.

But then, that's what happening when you sell a bad product

cheers ...

yeah, dell can suck my balls! i hope they go out of business!!!
