HP Dv9500 not charging battery

I just brought my friends Laptop home today, a HP dv9500. I happen to have the same one. Her's would not start i notice that when you plug the power adapter in the blue ring lights up, although the battery is not being charged. If i swap batteries it will run until that battery is dead. If i remove the battery while plugged in it will not start.

I am assuming that there is a possible bad solder point somewhere, has anyone dealt with this of have any ideas?

Have you tried with the Ac from your machine? Or swap around to be certain that the AC works?

Taking in consideration of a bad soldering contact, have you tried to wiggle the power (*) connector (gently) while it is being plugged in and see any diifference?

Possibly you have a bad power connector board. You need to take it out and check the fuse or the output. Your laptop is fine when running by battery power, there is no power output from the power connector board, that's the reason the battery cannot be charged and the mainboard has no power from AC adapter.

thanks for the help. I did take out the power connector and looked at it, also check it's output on the mobo and it is getting the right voltage on the mobo connection. could it still be the power connector board?

Are you talking about the ring that is around the DC? If so, all the dv9000's I have seen light up when the ac adapter is plugged in, battery plugged in or not.

Same with the dv2000 and dv6000 series notebooks...

Hi

 

I have the same issue with my dv9500 laptop

 

today it has developed this fault

 

Power plugged in, blue ring lit up when plugged in

 

but battery runs down to zero and laptop shuts down

 

another battery powers it up again but that runs down and the laptop shuts  down too

 

Did you get it resolved?
