Aspire 5050 Fan constant on and off

I recently got a Aspire 5050-3371. I put XP Pro on it and loaded all the drivers. Notebook runs well. I mainly use it to get online. The fan is constantly going on and off. The core idle temp is usually about 50 C. Fan kicks on about 53 C. I installed rightmark cpu clock and even limiting the cpu to 800mhz and lowering the voltage to just above what makes computer unstable has little effect. Speedfan does not see my fan.
I've opened it up and blown it out. It has an AMD Turion 64 2.0 ghz. Any ideas or help? The fan is getting very annoying. Thanks

just wondering if you are using it on a hard or soft surface (like lap or bed etc). If so, the intakes may be blocked causing the heat to build up and the fan to come on. If you like using it on your lap, I would suggest using a tv tray top or something similar

Using it sitting on a coffee table. No vents blocked. Is 50 c normal at idle? CPU usage is 0 to 2 percent. Is it normal for fan to come on at 53 c? Not much difference, 50 to 53. Thanks

Mine although a different model, cut in and out all the time as well, but with a hearing problem on my part, its not really noticeable. 50c is not totally unreasonable.
You might want to try and take of the large panel on the bottom and check the fan area to see if there is any dust clogging. The processor/heatsink area also attracts and cumulates large amounts of hair/dust. Blow it out with canned air. Keep the can upright so no water comes out the nozzle. But make sure, that it is unplugged, battery removed and try and isolate the fan blade with a paperclip end to keep it from over spinning
