Hi guys!
Im partially new to the forum. I mean, it's my first post but you guys have helped me so much in the past by looking at other people's problems.
Anyways, I need help now.
My area-51 has been working fine since I purchased it, a bit over 4 years ago. Never needed to format, reinstall or nothing. I do a cleanup of the fans every now and then and I even took it apart all the way down to the motherboard only to do a deep cleaning. But the time for repairing has come...
The other day I right clicked a file and the pop-up menu wouldn't appear, it's happened before and ctrl+alt+del worked always fine, but this time it gave me a blue screen of death... I didnt pay attention to the code and I just turned off and on. I believe windows loaded the first time, just to freeze after a few seconds. So I turn off and on and I get a black screen, It does not even show the alienware splash screen... I turn off and on and it loads! but gets stuck scaning IDE drives. Off and on again and after the aliensplash "operative system not found"... After several tries getting randomly all of this results, out of nowhere, windows starts up! I try to backup my fotos to my external HD, but BANG! ...blue screen of death with code "KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR" "STOP:0x00000077 (0xc0000185, 0xc0000185, 0x00000000, 0x020c5000)".....
After several tries, I managed to load windos and it gave me enough time to backup my pictures! But soon after that it froze.
A couple of times it also gave me the error "No driver attached to the fast track controller. The bios is not installed."
Still it keeps on giving me these errors randomly, specially the no OS one...
Now, it looks like a HD issue. Its a Raid 0 configuration. As far as I know it could be a driver error, so I tried to reinstall windows... but my dvd drive its quite messed up since a long time ago and when I finally managed to load it up, it gave me a corrupt file error while loading up... I tried to load Ubuntu from the dvd drive, but it wont recognize any copies, only originals...
I've been looking at the bios (btw, it is the worst i've ever seen... so simplified and unconfigurable... :P Plus some menus are blocked... any clues on how to access them?) and so far I have deactivated the card reader (which btw doesnt work either since looong ago... wait, it does work as a memory card formatting utility
) and I dont see any IDE drives listed... only the DVD drive. Of course, since it looks like the HD boots sometimes only, I might have never gone into the bios one of those times.
One thing I saw in the bios is that as booting device you can choose USB CD drive, so I borrowed one from a friend... but seems like the bios doesn't want to detect it! I can see that the drive restarts when i start the computer, but it still gives me no OS error... Doesnt boot up from the drive. (and yes, it the first one in the booting list)
Help?
