MX6958 drivers can't be located HELP!

My Gateway stopped finding drivers for my blackberry and my ipod. I was told to delete the usb drivers. Now it won't recognize the driver's existence. If I type the exact location of the files, it still says they are not there. On last attempt, I got a code 1 on one driver and a code 28 on another. The Gateway rep suggested completely wiping my hard drive. Unfortunately, I can't dump my files onto my external HD because the computer won't recognize it being there. Please, if anyone can help....

Try a Windows repair. This way you still can keep your personal data.

Thank you. I actually tried that. What I had to do in the end was restore from my backup copy. I kept all of my files, but lost programs. It works now, though!
