Atheros AR5007EG DPC Latency

Thread Starter
I am removing Vista from a Satellite L305-S5902, and replacing it with XP Pro / SP2.

The Atheros AR5007EG card in this machine is giving me fits with huge amounts of DPC Latency problems. The machine is in constant DPC call, North of 4,000 uSec.

I've been through numerous versions of the Toshiba and Atheros drivers, all the way up to 7.6.1.184, all are no help. The latest drivers cut the DPC times in half, but 2,000 uSec is not acceptable.

Turning the Radio switch to Off cures the problem.

By disabling services and testing, I have isolated it down to the Atheros drivers. The machine is built from a virgin unattended install CD that I use for my client builds. It is known good.

The drivers are the problem, and they are all bad.
Does anybody have a solution? Reinstalling Vista is not a solution.

. Vista does much more to devices management than just for looks. Drivers alone sometimes would not perform up to par under XP. You might consider replace the wifi card to another model that can show 100% performance under XP. Some devices work better under one OS than others.

cheers ...
