Nvidia external graphics card?

Thread Starter
A friend recently told me that there is an external graphics card being developed by nvidia. Something similar to the XG station. I have tried searching everywhere and I just can't seem to find information about this.

He said it also uses a new port for laptops or something like this. I'm not really sure.

Anyone know?

There are a few versions of this kind of technology, but to the best of my knowledge none of them are ready for mass production.

To 2nd Djembe, I personally would think that it is not to the laptop manufacturers' benefits/advantages to have such product.

. It would depress sales of upcoming models

. It will be just too expensive for an extra "external" gpu where the transfer rate is limited to adapting port, so not cost effective, if one develops such external gpu with less than 512mb.

cheers ...
