If anybody (using Vista) has updated to IE8, better check your CPU utilization. Over at Microsoft Answers forum, a lot of users have reported CPU utilization hitting 50% consistently and eventually this was linked to the Windows Sidebar. Somehow there's an incompatibility between the sidebar and IE8. Reverting back to IE7 brought down CPU utilization to 4%.

Here's the thread: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/...a-858907ce6f29

Not sure if the link works....

Wow, very nice benchmarking tool!

IE7 and IE8 are not even 1/4th the performance of Safari!

Same with Firefox!

Safari 4.0 beta is the fastest one at the moment, leaving all the "personal" (and fan girls/boys) asides :-)

Note also that the test results were being made on PC Desktops.

Relativity Steve. The big complaint I have with IE8 lately is the cold start of the browser, terribly slow.

qhn, What's this story about IE8 release candidate 1
I presumed when IE8 was offered with Windows Updates, that that was the final version.
what is this IE8 RC1.

and your comment that it seem alright at first sign but then...... doesn't sound very encouraging. Personally, I have no problems with IE8, it stopped my computer crashing everyday, which i had experienced with IE7 and my stability graph is climbing up again.
Am i supposed to download this IE7 RC1......????
