Acer EzDock Lite disconnecting

The USB ports on my EzDock only works sometimes. They would work and all of a sudden disconnect. I've reinstalled the driver of the docking system to no effect.
I'm using a Acer Travelmate 4602WLMi laptop.
Can anyone help?

When removing any perephial (sp) storage devices from USB ports ie external HDDs,USB storage devices, you should always use the "safe to disconnect hardware" icon in the task bar (green ball with a white checkmark). Keyboards, mice etc should not be a problem. Not using it when you should, can screw up USB ports and the storage device you are disconnecting. Do the USB ports on the laptop itself still work??? I suppose, depending upon the age of the EZ dock, it may be starting to fail

Thanks for your reply. I have taken care to first disconnect via an option under "Start" - as specified by Acer's manual. So I reckon that shouldn't have caused the problem. The EZDock is about 2 years old, i.e. not under warranty anymore. I would hope it should last lobnger than that.
