M9750 motherboard

I recently sent my Area 51 m9750 for repairs because i had absolutely no display. Thankfully i had a week left on my warrenty. They have had it for about two weeks and they're waiting on a new motherboard to replace the old defective one. The Alienware customer service people are useless when it comes to questions. Since my display was dead I wasn't able to backup any information. Does anyone know if they will have to format the hard disk for this repair?

P.S. Alienware get your act together.

That doesnt mean that they wont have to replace more than the motherboard...

Generally, when AW takes a system for repairs, they wipe the drives to install a new copy of windows to make sure the issues aren't software related.

If you need the data, you should either remove the hd's before sending it in, or make sure Alienware understands and makes arrangements to protect the data.

They replaced my M7700 Motherboard and did not wipe my drives....Just call 'em up and tell them to leave the drives intact....As hammer said though, it may be better if they do a fresh install to ensure the hardware is fine...
