Force Flash Studio 1535 BIOS

Hi,

I just finished registering for the forum - This is the first post. I hope I don't break any rules here

My laptop Studio 1535 has 2 issues.

1. With the battery plugged in. It shows battery not installed.
2. The Webcam cant be seen in the device manager. Obviously not working as well.

So what I am trying to do is update the BIOS. Not sure who was the Idiot@Dell to come up with the Idea - They put a trigger in the BIOS flash program to check the battery status. It checks the battery status if less than 10% flashes an error. How the hell am I supposed to update the BIOS like that? (Inside windows)

Now here is what I am trying to do - Force flash the BIOS.

I have tried /forceit / forcetype switches and they dont work. If someone could suggest a utility which will force feed the BIOS I would be grateful. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Perhaps if you had a modicum of patience you wouldn't need to edit out your original question.

In fact I'd be more than happy to help if you hadn't removed your problem in the first place.

EDIT: Thanks to the miracle that is Google's cache feature I was able to retrieve your post.

Unfortunately there's no way I know of to force a BIOS flash when the battery is dead or not registering in the system. The reason that you need a battery in the system is as a means to prevent bricking your system on the one in a million chance of the power going out right in the middle of it. This has been the case with Laptops for years and even IBM requires it on their thinkpads.

That being said, odds are you got alot bigger problems than anything a BIOS flash is going to fix. Sounds like your motherboard might need replacing. If Dell Technical support insists on you updating the BIOS you should probably let them know that their flash utility requires a charged battery be present in the system.
