8790-Video Lag/Lockups..and question on overheating...Need Help

Hey Everyone,

I got my 8790, and I love it...but I had one problem that I sent it back for repair for.... When in windows and using a USB mouse (not sure if mouse was a factor or not)... I was getting small lagging spurts like the video would lock up for a few seconds, then release, then lock up again... happened in windows, in games, etc...

I looked at the processes , memory utilization and cpu% and nothing really flagged me as odd (99% system idle when this was happening)... so I dont think it was any application...

I play games primarily on this laptop..so I related it to overheating... let it cool down for awhile and tried again same thing.....

Before I shipped it back to Sager I powered it up (had been in a box for a few days)... without the USB mouse..and was working fine...

Hate to feel I wasted my time sending it back, but also the problem made the laptop unusable...

Any thoughts?

Is this an optical mouse? If not, the mouse may need his ball's cleaned....

nah its just a plain USB mouse... definitely wasnt the mouse ball (funny though)... as key commands wouldnt work either...

Its just a thought, have you checked the IRQs used on the system? Maybe theres too much sharing going on?

Nah, its already in route to Sager, but good thought.... I would think though that Sager could build it without IRQ conflicts.. I just got it a week ago and didnt add any devices

My sager has the same exact problem. Did sending it back to Sager fix it? Or did they tell you what the problem could be?

Mine does the same thing only when the wireless connection is abruptly interrupted. Basically if I am surfing the internet and I lose the wi-fi signal because of some interference the mouse starts lagging and locking up. To deal with it I just disable the radio signal and this takes care of the problem.

That sounds more like a windows problem... Windows is becoming unssafe and unstable for my issues. Not only me encountering such things many complain about lockups

yah, happens without the mouse plugged in (tried both high speed and other usb slots)...

I did install the intel chipset updates from sagers site and havent seen it since.... but dont have much faith that it is the fix..

Mine is doing the same thing...

I have narrowed it down to the wireless card. When I disable the wireless card it is fine. This is not acceptable though, as I need to use the wireless. Anyone have any ideas? I am going to try to reinstall the drivers... I will let everyone know if it works.

Sager's website has drivers from march 11th... I thought I would check if there was more recent drivers at gygabyte's website, but I am not sure if I am looking at the right card... the drivers say they are version 1 yet what is on my Sager is version 3.0.0.43. Should I use the drivers on the gygabyte site for the GN-WIAG?

Fixed.

Installing the drivers for the WiFi again from Sager's site did the trick. No more random pauses. I am happy again!
