I emailed PCT to see if they would be offering the 3200 now that they are selling Acer. They replied saying that since it wasn't "top of the line" they had no plans on offering it.

I don't know about you guys but I think the Ferrari is more top of the line than some of the other Acers they're offering right now. I'm still wondering if he thought I was talking about the older Ferrari 3000?? I'd really like to see PCT offer the 3200...at least then I'd be able to buy from them.

I asked from acer when the ferrari 3200 is coming to market in finland and they answered:
(translated to english)

I think they got it wrong, and it got to be some sort of misunderstanding, as I just got of a PCT email in which I pointed exactly the AMD64 Ferrari 3200 model, and the answer is ...

" ... Yes, this is something we will likely carry when it becomes available. We wouldn't miss it ... "

So I am very pleased with such an answer ... and the release date from ACER is mid May as for now. I rather give this one a try than a Dothan

Ati Xpp?

I'm think they might have misunderstood me too. Thats encouraging that they would like to carry the 3200. Only thing I wish it had was a faster chip. Does anyone know how many options it might have or will it be like the others with no ability to change any of the options?

I would like at least a Mobile AMD64 3200+ if not faster, and 1gig RAM. If not I will continue looking...maybe the future Hypersonic AX-7...though I've been reading the Voodoo forums and the few people who have recieved them are happy but their scores have only been around 3000 or so for 2003. Seems a bit low for a 9700.

Anyone know of any possible laptops that have like specs to the Acer 3200? I know about the Eurocom rig, but I wouldn't buy from that company. Any other alternatives on the horizon with the AMD64 and the ATI 9700?
man why would they not release the ferrari 3200 with a freaking 3200 + BAH.. acer.. you are the weakest link.. goodbye!
^^^^ The problem is that it seems EVERY contender ends up having an obvious "weak link". I just don't understand why they would have such a nicely spec'd rig and then hamper it with the 2800 processor? ESPECIALLY since it is called the Ferrari 3200!!
Maby since this will be the first A64 laptop with a 35W processor? I think that's just fabulous and wish somebody else would release one with a videocard that does'nt use up all the power you are saving with the processor.
This just sounds perfect. ANd here I was waiting for something pentium M based.
Unfortunatly if you look at teh official Acer specs, they are promising even less batterylife then with the ferrari 3000... I hope it's a typo.
The 2800+ on Anandtech performs **VERY** similarly to a 3000. If that's the case, it's a way to get the price point down. I agree that it will be a bit confusing especially next to a 3200 Athlon XP which is actually slower. Anyways, if the processor is socketed and easily replaced I am still interested.
Is this 2800 processor the low-wattage version of the Athlon64 that AMD is supposed to be launching?

I don't know if you've already this pic which was taken at the CeBIT...

It is sold with that lovely mouse like the first model.
