They're almost equal in power. The Pentium Dual-Core T3400 has a slower clock speed (2.16 Ghz) and faster front-side bus speed (667 Mhz) and the Core 2 Duo T5800 has a lower clock speed (2 Ghz) and a faster front-side bus speed (800 Mhz).
I'd go with the T5800 due to the faster FSB, personally.
These CPUs are not almost equal in power. They are completely different CPUs and clock speed has nothing to do with their relative performance. The Core 2 Duo will be a considerably more powerful processor.
|Pentium Dual-Core processor family is the latest Pentium-branded family of budget dual-core desktop and mobile microprocessors. The family was introduced in the first quarter of 2007 and currently (Jan 2009) includes 8 desktop and 11 mobile microprocessors. The Pentium Dual-Core CPUs are based on Core microarchitecture, and include many Core micro-architecture features|
|Pentium Dual-Core processors don't include virtualization technology, and have smaller level 2 cache than Core 2 Duo CPUs.|
