I burned the file to a cd,pressed f12 and chose cd,but I don't get any options list.I only get an A:\ prompt.Itried typing D:\ FREEDOS\SETUP\BIN but the command is not recognized.Anyone know how to make the file work or burn a proper disk? I've got a 9300 with a dead 7800 GTX and I need to flash it back to the 9300 Bios so the ATI X300 I have will work properly. It currently only runs at 1280 x 800 and I can't get it to run at 1440 x 900 which is the native resolution of the LCD.

This is the exact iso that everyone else uses. You just have to burn it to a cd as an image file. Personally, I have never used the file but it is the exact same one.

Also, there is no reasosn to have two threads on the same topic. You can delete your other one by editing the first post and choosing delete.

I just checked my post. Are you sure you are extracting the exe? Its a self extracting exe that contains an iso. You want to burn the iso to the cd as an image rather than burning the exe to a cd.

Tried extracting, guess it didn't work.I've spent about 3 hrs total wrestling with this and the only thing I have to show for it is a wastepaper basket full of coasters. It would have been easier for me to just replace the motherboard at this point.I'm off to ebay to sell my bios flashed motherboard and buy a Inspiron 9300 board.

You only have to double click the file to extract it. It contains an iso that you burn to a cd as an image. Its really quite simple.

I know this is off subject a little but I need help. I want to know how to flash my E1705 MB with the M1710 of M90 Bios. I was told by 2 Dell repair shops I could gain the 10/100/1000 ethernet by flashing my E1705 board with the bios from the M1710. I made a CD with the M1710 bios but when I boot up from the CD and try to run the Bios file for the M1710 I get a big red x saying that this bios is not supported on this board. How can I get around this and will this in fact in-able gigabit ethernet on an E1705 motherboard?

This is partially true regarding gigabit. Dell did infact initially cripple the E1705 board with a 10/100 but much later revisions of the E1705 came with gigabit on board. I dont know which shops told you this but 10/100 wont simply show up because of a bios update.

Regardless MontMac, what you want isn't available right now. We had a guy here that knew his way around bioses I guess. He was the one that modded the bios to support more machines. He's no longer around and no one has taken his place.
