Must get lower temps!

Hey guys, I'm trying to push my m1710 to the limit, and am in need of some information if you're able to give me any..

First off, I was curious about how to lap the gpu and cpu heatsinks for the xps inspirons properly, since they're obviously uneven heatsinks and have odd bits on them which I'm unsure what to do with..

Second, I'm attempting to cool the laptop down more, and am thinking about good quality thermal pads for the northbridge and vram, or copper. I'd love to find copper metal pads like that, if anyone can tell me where to buy I'd appreciate it. Also I'm going to install a blower in there to pull air across the hard drive, but am unsure of where to put an exit (this is to cool the northbridge and under the vcard, since the radiator isn't connected to the metal plate on the bottom holding yet more hot hot hot vram.)

So here's a pic of my mobo right now too. and a link to the blower I'm thinking of getting for the inards.

I'm thinking if the plugs get in the way it's possible to angle the blower and have it hot glued to the keyboard above.

I'd love some opinions on my ideas and anything else I didn't think of.

Thanks alot

Pretty cool ideas you are having here. I am all for any modifications that can be the temp down, in the forms of better air flow and heat dissipation.

I bore holes on some of my comps, at the bottom casing, in order to add some extra air flows into it, and use liquid Pro thermal "paste".

cheers ...

Good idea! I'm going to now for sure cut holes in the hinge cover to allow hot air to escape. I'm also planning on getting an old battery pack and putting fans into it, good fans, a friend's idea on another forum and it's actually a genious idea to get serious cooling to the video card.
