Whats the better laptop and why

Thread Starter
Hi I want a laptop for school and I have had a dell for 5 years and has hardley skipped a beat but it's definately time to upgrade.

Basically Ive narrowed it down to -
Studio 15
3Gb of ram
250gb hardrive sata
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T6400 (2GHz/ 800 FSB/ 2MB Cache)
$1199 AUS

or
inspiron 1525
4Gb ram
250Gb Hardrive sata 7200rpm

Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual-Core Processor T4200 (2.0GHz, 1MB Cache, 800 MHz FSB)
+ blutooth
(note have bascically same features except ones mentioned)
$1190 AUS

so whats better value, quicker and better

Thnx

I dont really care if it's a newer series just performance, oh and is the processor difference affect it that much i thought maybe the better hard drive would even or overpower the other?

The Core 2 Duo is a much more advanced and more powerful chip then the Pentium. Personally I think the Pentium has no place in a computer at that price range. Get the Core 2 Duo.

However the Inspiron 1525 actually comes with the Core 2 Duo T8300 as the standard processor and you have the option to get the 2.0GHz Pentium for $225 less money.

The 1525 is a much cheaper computer if you equip it with the Pentium. It may be different in AUS.

Studio 15 is better with that processor but I just checked on dells website and you could upgrade to the same processor from the studio 15 with just $50.

The studio has a much better CPU, though 1 GB less RAM... .if your going with Windows 32 bit, then 3-3.5GB is about the max you can utilize anyway...

The Studio 15 is better Overall. In my professional opinion the 1525 is a piece of junk overall and apart from it being dirt cheap here in the US, there's nothing much that I like about it. it's all plastic construction. The Studio 15 has far better build quality and will definitely feel like a $1200AU laptop when you get it.
