Got a free m1530 :)

Hello,

Just under 3 years ago I bought an Inspiron 6400 and it came with a free upgrade to a 3 year warranty, I'm so glad about that now.

This week the screen on my Inspiron stopped working so dell is now replacing it with a XPS M1530, A very nice upgrade!

Anyway just decided to join the community. What are your thoughts on the current XPS notebooks? Have any of you gone through this replacement process before?

The 1530 I wouldn't say is a terrible system, they'd be better if the early ones weren't plagued with nVidia GPU issues. They're well put together and have some nice features and good screens. I don't find them particularly hard to work on either.

How did you convince them to give you a new system? lol

Every time I get on the phone with them, they're reluctant to admit anything is the fault of their hardware. According to them, everything is a software issue lol

So technically, it's not a free system. Your old one died, and got replaced under warranty, and seeing as they don't make the 6400 anymore, it got replaced with a similar system (by today's standards).

Nonetheless, enjoy the XPS system, and welcome to the forums
