N500 vs SL500??

I've decided that I need a laptop for university and website work that I do. Having had no problems and loving the build quality on my dads IBM Thinkpad I decided this was the way to go!

I've narrowed my choice down to these two thinkpads.

This N500 (for £442) - http://www.dabs4work.com/productview...avigationKey=0

OR this

SL500 (for £480) - http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Lenov...rsion.asp?PID=

Now my question is - is it worth the extra money (£40) for the SL500 which is the newer model BUT it has less spec 1.8CPU and 160GB HD against the N500's 2.0CPU and 250HD?

You expert opinions are much appreciated! Thanks

Just to let people know.

I've ended up ordering a great SL500 with a 2.0Mhz processor rather than the standard 1.8Mhz for roughly the same price

So far so good! It really is a solid bit of kit. Running windows Vista Business which came with it. Only keeping it on as the Lenovo software add-ons are great for easy connection to different networks, wireless or otherwise.

As expected it runs a bit slower on vista - but i'm sure it would whizz on XP which I have the downgrade discs for (came with the machine).

All in all very happy with my purchase.

Give Vista a bit more time to get used to your working habits. And get the latest updates as soon as you can, direct from Lenovo or Microsoft, not trying to manually install the updates.

Review your AV, and I personally find that turning off indexing and background automatic defrag can also help Vista running a bit quicker.

cheers ...
