Fujisu N6460 second HDD issue

Thread Starter
I recently purchased the Fujitsu Lifebook N6460 with the following specs:

OS: Windows Vista: Home Premium
CPU: Intel T7100 @ 1.80 GHz Centrino Duo
RAM: 3Gb
HDD: 200Gb
Gfx Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600

As I found that there was place for another SATA HDD (slot), I bought one WD 4000 BEVT-11ZAT0 from local store with 400GB and inserted it.
Everything seems to be fine and I'm still using additional HDD but there is strange issue with it:

Sometimes it gives strange "be be beep" sound followed by some other sound (like accessing data on disc).
This sound is very annoying and I don't know what causes it. Can it be some power drain or alarm or... I don't know. Without HDD inside, everything is fine. I gave a try on Fujitsu support but no reply after one month. Anybody can help?
Thanks.

Can't say much about the "be be beep", but accessing the drive can be the result from Vista performing background defragging and/or indexing the folders/files.

cheers ...

OK, but how to disable background defragmenting and indexing from Vista? Maybe it will stop with unfamous beeping.
Thanks.

. Disable automatic defragment:
1. Click the Start button
2. Select Computer
3. Right-click on : Drive icon
4. Select Properties
5. Click the Tools tab
6. Uncheck Run on a schedule
7. Click OK

. Disable disk indexing:
1. right click on the drive in question, select Properties
2. uncheck "indexing" option at the bottom for quick search, Apply.
3. " Ignore all" when stuck at certain files

cheers ...

All disabled but everything remains same. I don't know what else to do?

Can you get a hand on another drive and try the slot? If it works, then likely the new dirve has an issue. If not, then we can dig in some more on the OS side.

When I remove second HDD, everything is fine, no
"bebebeep". But, I will... I'l try to get another one and see. At home I do have few HDDs but all of them are ATA. I need SATA. Will try and tell you.
Rgrds.
