HP DV9000 HD problems

Two days ago the HD in slot 1 of the DV9000 stopped working.

Booting gave me an MBR Error, XP Setup CD, and BIOS test could not find it, BIOS was able to see the 2nd HD fine.

Bought a WD 160GB today, BIOS tested it fine, but XP Setup cannot find it.

I then switched the old HD 2 to the first bay, same thing happens.

I even tried switching the connectors, but no matter what, BIOS sees the HDs and XP Setup does not.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

Obvious your problem is Sata driver and XP CD doesn't have driver for this hardware. That's why BIOS sees the HDs and XP Setup does not.
