Well it has been around a year now since the m15x debute, and I assume the initial issues with the chasis/screen issues and the potential Nvidia die failure issues have all been resolved, and the bugs have been worked out.

I have priced the system for $2400 with the WUXGA lcd, x9000, and ATI card (I plan to use one of my 320GB SATA HDD's, 4GB RAM, HP express card digital tv tuner/remote, Ultimate x64, and BD-RE optical drive out of my m5790).

Does the m15x have a TPM chip?, and is there any info regarding the Adressable memory support? (4GB max, or 6-8GB?)

the x9000 is a waste(for gaming). the gpu will bottleneck you way before that proc does, leaving you with a shorter battery life, hotter running, electricity sucking chip. Not to mention being bottle necked on slow ram and FSB speed. Save some(ALOT) money with a non extreme T9300 or T9500 will have all the noticeable power of the x9000 with none of its drawbacks, or at least not so pronounced. The x9000 will provide for better synthetic benchmarks but very little in real world noticeable difference speed wise. The price to performance ratio of that chip is destroyed by the t9300!!! And if you REALLY need that super processor horsepower a desktop is still a better solution.

I just got my m15x like 4 months ago but I haven't had any problems with it. It's replaced my desktop and I take it to class with me, so it's gotten a lot of use. I would get the 3 year warranty just in case though.

Also I agree with archalien; the t9300 is plenty fast.

I agree with Archalien- The x9000 is over the top. If you need an over the top processor, get one for a desktop.

I'd say go for it. So, far no overheating problems for me, or anything hardware related. However, my right hinge is starting to show some gap.

I got the second wave of the m15x when it was first released. I think I have had it a year or so now. I love it. No Hardware issues. It gets a little warm when gaming, but with the 8800, what would you expect.

I think I am starting to show a little stress on the bottom of the hinges. There looks to be very minor cracks forming so I am being a little more gentile.

I love this laptop very much. I am gad I made the purchase and would buy another one if this one got lost/stolen tomorrow.

"Gentile" means belonging to a "Clan" or "Tribe". This word was used a lot in the times of the Romans and Israelites(New Testament Times). In modern times this word refers to those brought up by Christian faith or Non-Jews. Funny comment though I think he meant "Gentle".

It is still worrying to hear about this kind of wear and tear on the hinges of these machines though...especially in such a short period of time...
