| 2K Boston Job Posting Reveals Details on Next Project What's next for the people who brought us Bioshock? A multiplayer FPS is on the way from 2K Boston. By Dustin Quillen, 02/02/2009 Bioshock may not have had -- or even needed -- multiplayer when it nabbed our coveted Videogame of the Year Award for 2007, but that doesn't mean the masterminds at 2K Boston should be typecast as a single-player-only development team. According to recent job listings on Gamasutra (via V for Videogames), the studio that delivered us to Rapture is seeking out some new blood to take us somewhere else entirely: a multiplayer first-person shooter. Specifically, the folks at 2K Boston are in search of both a lead mutliplayer designer and a lead multiplayer engineer for their next, currently-unnamed project. Details remain scarce, but the job descriptions themselves contain a handful of revelations about this secretive shooter -- including the potential for some form of persistent online world:

| BioShock 2 Destined for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 No word on whether "Sea of Dreams" will be released simultaneously on all systems. By Stephany Nunneley, 10/24/2008 The new teaser trailer for BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams may have many questioning just what 2K Marin has in store for us with such archaic imagery. What or whom survived the last round in Rapture remains to be seen, but what we do know, thanks to a recent quote from 2K representative Charlie Sinhaseni on GameSpot, is that the game is "destined" for the PlayStation 3, Windows-based PCs, and the Xbox 360. While a psychic barnyard animal could have predicted that, what we are still unsure of is if each port of the game will be released simultaneously or not. Hopefully, this time around that will be the case so PS3 users will not have to once again wait a whole painful year to get the game on their system. When BioShock 2 was officially announced back in March, Take-Two stated that not only would Ken Levine be involved in some capacity but also that the game would be released sometime during the company's Q4 fiscal year, which means we can hopefully expect it to hit between August and October 2009. Granted, that is over a year away and a lot can happen between now and then, but let's keep our fingers crossed that this time around everyone will be able venture back into Rapture on the same day. In the meantime, just keep your eyes glued to news.1UP.com for a more official announcement. |

| First Teaser Trailer for BioShock 2 PS3 version of BioShock gets sequel teaser, game subtitled 'Sea of Dreams.' By Steve Watts, 10/16/2008 The PS3 version of BioShock may not have its glitches patched in time for launch, but one goodie that fans will appreciate is the debut teaser trailer for BioShock 2. While we can't glean much from the trailer, it does give us a subtitle to go by, "Sea of Dreams." That's an awfully cheerful sounding name, isn't it? Check out the new trailer above in all its subtle creepiness. |
