Programs Run slow even wit more ram

I just installed another gig of ram and it still runs as it did when i still had one gig what should i do??

Were you actually running low on ram before you installed more? Mac OS and Linux are both much more efficient than Windows in actually utilizing all the ram availiable and not doing much paging until it is full. If you weren't actually running out of RAM you probably wouldn't see much improvement at all.

Was the computer running slower than before, is that why you added the RAM?

One thing you can do to keep the computer running well is to run maintenance utilities. I use this once a month or so. It cleans out old log files and whatnot. Select all the options except rebuild spotlight index and force empty trash.

Any particular programmes? Would you expand what "slow" means?
