Deus Ex: Human Revolution takes place in the year 2027 and chronicles the rise of cybernetic augmentation, a technological renaissance Jacques-Belletete dubbed the "transhuman revolution." The game's protagonist, Adam Jensen, has augmented cybernetic arms that likely give him superhuman strength. Jensen's character model is roughly based off Don Quixote, with a slender face and pointy goatee. Nothing was shared about the plot, but Jacques-Belletete did say the team used the myth of Icarus as inspiration. To show off Jensen's bionic pipes, Eidos Montreal plans to implement a third-person camera during takedowns and a third-person cover system like the one used in Rainbow Six Vegas.

After a laborious trial and error process, Jacques-Belletete's team honed in on a unique hybrid art style that marries traditional cyberpunk conventions with those of the medieval renaissance. The result is a stunning wardrobe of haute couture that wouldn't look out of place on a Parisian runway - think The Tudors meets The Matrix. To avoid the uncomfortable uncanny valley affect created by photorealistic character models, the art team followed a more stylized approach that fits perfectly into the foggy atmosphere and neo-baroque buildings of our not-too-distant future. From the limited gameplay and concept art Jacques-Belletete showed during his speech, it's clear Human Revolution won't have that sterilized feel of many sci-fi games. Like a real city, old rundown tenements stand right alongside the sleek, neon-lit buildings of the future, and advertisements are everywhere. Blending the old with the results in a much more believable environment.

TV let's keep a running commentary on this game.

I'm so happy I was able to get my Plantinum in GoW3 so I can start a new game fresh today.

So far so good. It's really hard and so far the controls are really clunky, but I bet they will get better once you start getting upgrades.

Graphics engine isn't as great as I was expecting. You can really tell the difference between in game and cut scenes. I hate that transition.

I wouldn't bother with this Joe. I can already tell you're not gonna like this game.

Hell I barely can stand it.

I was a little harsh when the game first started. It wasn't what I was expecting and it's surely nothing revolutionary.

I havent had much time to play (stupid blackouts....) but I started having fun almost right away. The tutorial area (non augmented mode) was kind of meh, but its tutorial. Once I started getting into the real game I fell in love trying to sneak around and tazer prod all those guards without getting seen. Now I'm in the police station after doing some side quests in Detroit.

I think it captures the spirit of the original very well while still being its own game.

The police station is one of the best side missions I've played so far.

Thoughts on the air vents?

The vents are so cliché, but they're never something that bothered me. I get a lot of satisfaction from sneaking through vents and then dropping on some dude's head and zapping him with the tazer laugh4.gif
