Cool, then:
. was the new lcd a match up of the old one?
. did you try to use the old inverter with the new one?
. did you check to see if the latch mechanismus (the one turns the LCD on when it opens) was not being stuck?

cheers ...

tried every combination but what you say about the latch intrigues me i have tried to find information all over the internet to see if my laptop has a suspend switch i no that all laptops hibernate or go into sleep mode when the lid is closed but cannot seem to find any thing visual

Most laptop LCDs either possess a physical latch (little dingy by the LCD frame) or a magnetic one that is situated somewhere along the inside of the bottom part of the frame.

Put in your service tag, then you should be able to get a hand on a dissassembly guide.

The latch that QHN is referring to is not a latch, it's the lid-closed switch. On the Latitude D810 it is a magnetic reed switch embedded in the palmrest of the system. The magnet is mounted in the bezel of the LCD. When you close the lid the magnet pulls the switch to tell the Laptop that the screen is closed.

You can test this by unplugging the palmrest from the motherboard. Just remove the keyboard (instructions are here. If the screen works with the switch unplugged then all you'll need is a new palmrest (the switch is not going to be easily removed, and you're not going to find just that part by itself anyway.

If the screen still does not work after all that, then the next possible problem is either the Video card if your system has the Radeon X600 daughter card or the motherboard if your system has the Radeon X300 or Intel integrated graphics.
