Playing LOTRO now after a long break from WOW, and I'm getting sick of having to farm mobs for most of the quests. The story "pillar" on this could be an amazing next step. I really enjoyed both KOTORs and Mass Effect. Hopefully they do this one right. But who isn't going to go for a lightsaber wielding class? And for those who do, please don't cry out and say that the Jedi and Sith classes are way overpowered...I mean duh.

I played LOTRO until level 12.... its too much like WoW. In fact, it's almost exactly like WoW, only a bit more main plot story involved and slightly better graphics.

Wow another MMO that is going to fall against WoW.

I'll probably pick this game up at release and at least give it a shot. Though I'm a bit skeptical after Star Wars Galaxies. If TOR becomes a WoW with lightsabers I'll definitely pass.

Hopefully they don't change things like they did to SW:G and alienated the consumer base

What do people think of this game? How do you think it holds up against other similar games?

I have mixed feelings about it. I love Bioware so I'm down with the story. I loved Dragon Age, Mass Effect etc.

At the same time I think the full voice, everyone has a story etc, paints them into a corner. This is what we are seeing with some race/profession limits.

As to other games. Make it fun and please get me off the train where the entire purpose of the game is to get the next armor set.
I don't mind loot, I like loot. I just want it to be more then about armor sets.

16 planets so far. Really has me worried about how big (or small) these planets will be. I like my wide open big spaces to explore. I don't like feeling cramped in on rails. But I guess we'll see soon enough.

What about the flight in space? On "rails"

*Laughs* Well, my thoughts on space was I never actually expected ANY space to make it in at launch. I sort of felt this was more of a place holder and they intended to improve it later. Plus I think they are going the Mass Effect route with the Galaxy Map and your own ship so they needed to get something into the game. With all of that said, I'm more focused on what the ground game is and the only thing I really care about right now is how customizable I can make my ship. I do expect them to get space off the rails in an expansion. If they intend to always leave it on rails, then I think it will be a big problem for them in the future.

Thinking about picking this up. I'm tired of all the talk and need to experience it myself.

Anyone playing?
