Help playing 5.1 in Laptop

Thread Starter
hello people! ive got a HP DV2745SE
on the sound card properties it says Digital output and Speakers
according to the sound card it has a Digital Output . I dont know where! maybe its on the front and it uses the same Inputs as the headphones
does anyone know how to play 5.1 content from the laptop to a home theater?
i bought a Mini plug to Toslink ( spdif ) Cable hoping it would work! but i dont see the Red colour on the tosliink so that means the audio Card is not working on digital 5.1
anyone know how to make it work? or do i need an external device or a docking stations
tips and help appreciated!

I would think that you would want some sort of 5.1 adapter (PC to Toslik Adapter per example).

cheers ...

Are you certain it is actually a TOSLINK connector? TOSLINK is an optical connector obviously, but it is more than possible to get digital signal over coaxial.
