Hi all,

Just wanted find out what people think of the dell APR, if anyone had positive/negative to say about the apr.

the problem i have read about (unable to power laptop after undocking) appears/appeared to be motherboard related, not sure if its resolved.

thanks

'ello 'ello anyone out there?

Well, mine worked for about 10 days and then stopped. As you mentioned, the problem has been diagnosed as being with the mobo so it is going to be replaced.
When it was, in fact, working it was fine.

I'm looking to get one this summer. Hopefully I don't run into the issues that others have. Just out of curiosity, Bossy, do you have the new 8600 (without the serial and parallel ports) or the older one with them? Just wondering if the MB issues are a result of a problem in the old boards or a possible issue when the redesign took place.

I have the "old" 8600 so hopefully they did resolve the mobo issue.
Mine is not an isolated case. The Dell forum has a few people with the same problem so I guess it is a design flaw or defect which can strike.
I also got the D-View stand which is really neat but the weight displacement using it might explain the problem I have had. I hope that is not the case. I am crossing my fingers that this will be the last issue I have.
As was stated above, when working it is a seemless design and I never had a problem with any peripherals, etc.

Hrm, has anyone had issues with the APR without the D-View Stand? I could see how that design could possibly screw stuff up if something in the computer wasn't quite secured properly.

well got my APR, it looks real nice but i'm sure it'll look better with my laptop , sighh my replacement laptop is still in "in production".

Has any tried using the 90w power adapter from the APR on an 8600? They have the same power ratings.

bananas for my APR witha serial port.

as you can see i'm not ready let my serial port go quietly into the night. My dell rep. must think i'm a technological fossil.

Using it now. I think the only difference is it charges the battery faster.
