T4220 powered on, but with a blank screen

Hi,

I have a Fujitsu T4220 Tablet. Recently, it fell on the ground, breaking apart the protective plastic near the DC-in. I tested it out and everything is working fine, except for the minor fact that the screen stays blank the whole time. I can startup and shutdown normally, but nothing is displayed on the screen (it stays black, never goes to the lighted black).

I have yet to connect it to an external monitor and test out whether that works or not. I have already taken it apart and haven't seen any damage to the parts, except for a pink wire that has been flattened (not sure if it's supposed to be like that or if it was crushed). I might not be looking carefully enough or might have glanced over a few important details I am unaware of.

Help is appreciated.

Pardon me for being a newbie.

Welcome to NBF!

As you mentioned, try to connect to an external and see. The pink wire could be part of an inverter, that causes the screen to go black when it is bad (that is if the external works)

I just connected and it worked with an external! Like I said before, the only thing I saw when I opened it up was a rather flattened pink wire connected to what I believe to be the inverter after researching it on the net. Maybe that's the source? Or maybe I missed something while looking over the hardware. What should my next course of action be?

Get another inverter. Or re-joint the pink wire first.

Does a flattened wire really cause the screen to die? I'm a tad bit reluctant to believe this, but it seems like the only cause.

Does a new inverter always come with new wires? Because I think the inverter is fine and that the wire is detachable (and most likely the cause) - but I could be wrong. I did a preliminary search and could not find inverters for the T4220, but T4210 inverters were available - could they be used for my T4220?

Also, I looked for rejointing directions and couldn't find any - does anyone know a good site for it?

Thanks!

Most inverters I know (and bought) come with the cable. Contact where you get the part and get a confirmation before committing to buy.

Rejoint: strip the wire, twist the ends together, cover it with electrical tape. You can search the net for "repair broken electrical wire" - loads of ideas

cheers ...
