This ones just a small problem.
My webcam works fine, but it's missing on the menu
and i can't locate it anywhere in my files so it's just
a bit annoying if i want to make a video. It's not even in the manual (printed or computer version).
It took three weeks before it appeared in the menu
after I bought the laptop, but since I had to restore to
factory default and god knows where it is, as i say
it's only a minor problem , no location in services.
and when i expand my Acer menus theres nothing there either. Just annoying. If anybody has any info
would be grateful. thanks in advance !!!??

Are you saying the icon is missing on your desktop. If so, go to Start>All Programs>Acer Crystal Eye Webcam click on that, right click on the blue icon which opens below that, select Copy and paste it to your desktop

NO. It is not listed at all, anywhere, if i go Start, All Programs, then Acer Crystal Eye Webcam is not on the menu so no way to click on it unfortunately.

Have you tried to reinstall the software? Or is it that you have the software installed, but cannot access the menu?

cheers ...

I don't know what software wud be linked to the webcam but i can access the menu OK but it's just not listed (eveen in all programs)
i've a link in the Notification Area which leads me through the whole
computer window by window by window. No trace of anything to do with a Webcam., unless a very tehnical abbreviation which i might not understand

Not sure whether my message went out ok
but to recapitulate ;
I don't know what kind of software wud be linked to the webcam but I can access menu and all programs and i have a link in the Notification Area which covers the whole computer and there's nothing there unless is very technical and i might not understand as I'm no technician. But it works Ok when I make a Skype Video Call

Skype works, meaning you have the correct Webcam driver installed. And this driver is being made available to other apps that work with the cam.

If you want full control of the cam outside these apps, then you should have the software that comes with the cam installed. Thus my question above - have you tried to install the Acer WebCam software/application? It is available on the net and at Acer support site.

If you have a "link" on your comp, try right click on that and review the properties of the link. It should tell you where the function call is residing.

cheers ...

qhn, just saw your reply, so i will be checking that out later.
I've noticed that on Acer eSettings Management that the Webcam and Driver are listed: Don't know whether I would have to reboot the driver or not , but I'll check out the Acer support website first of all.

thanks a lot

try going to erecovery, then try reinstall drivers and apps. then install the appropriate application for your webcam. it is probably a suyin or chicony camera. just make sure you install the correct application.

you can also download and install the applications from acerpanam.com

lastly, you may be able to go to your c: drive, then program files, probably x86 (if you have 64bit), then under acer and look for the webcam applications. it may be installed, but no start menu link.

Thanks qhn and Michelle G.
I didnt see anything I cud download from Acer in Switzerland but i checked out eRecovery and there were three possibilitiesl 2 Suyin and 1 Bison. So i managed to restore from there but had a lot of trouble afterwards, when i clicked on the webcam from the menu the whole desktop background changed, the sidebar became blacked out etc. But now it's ok except that everytime i click on it i get the
a window opening saying an unidentified programs wants to enter your computer.
Allow or not allow, but i'm working on that one, seems a little complicated tho. Anyway thanks a lot for your help !!!
