TV connection Question?

Thread Starter
I would like to connect my Dell E1505/6400 to a TV so i can watch my movies and use it as a DVD player.

How would I do that and what settings whould i have to use for my laptop?

My laptop has a VGA & (7-pin) S-Video hookups, and tv has S-video and RCA.

Any help would be Great!
Thanks

. How many pins does your TV S-Video connection have? If it is 4, then it is a moot point.

. Best scenario for you is a VGA converter/adapter (not a cheap cable)

cheers ...

Since your TV has VGA, just buy a cheap VGA cable and you'll be golden. The only difficulty you might have is getting the resolution set properly. HOWEVER, the TV should support 720p (1280x720) without issues or image problems.

Yeah, if the TV has a VGA cable you can just do that.

Otherwise your S-video cable will do the trick though you wont get the best resolutions.

No VGA on the TV and the TV actual only has the RCA jacks. When i use a converter it won't show the picture at all.

I never knew if it was my dell crappy laptop or if i was doing something wrong!

Before you go blaming your Laptop you might want to blame that dinosaur of a TV you have.

You'll need a dongle cable to go from the TV out on your laptop to the TV The part number I found that may work is UJ627. Owners of an E1505 can be of more help. My D820 doesn't have TV out on it.

Once you connect your PC to your TV with cables you will need to enable TV output (or with a VGA to composite converter the external display). The TV display is enabled in your video card's control panel and the external VGA connection can simply be enabled via Fn+F8
