Restoring an old 5690 Sager

Hey guys,

Been a while since i posted on here.

Currently, I am restoring an old sager 5690 laptop. Basically, I need a new Hard Drive but have no idea what they can take? Currently, it has a dead 60 G Toshiba HDD 2194.
IT wont install Winxp or VISTA.

Anyone know how large i can take the hard drive and what size it can be. I really need to get a new one.

Also, can i run vista on these machines? i know....save the hate banter.

Thanks!

That machine is going to be using an IDE hard drive, I am pretty sure those machines where out in the 2004 time frame, sata laptop drives did not start until 2006/late 2005. I would assume you can get it to take at least a 120, although they are manufactured in IDE at up to 250, but some machines have bios limitations past certain sizes.

You should be able to use any non sata 2.5" drive.

Pretty sure T.V. is right any 2.5" PATA will do. As far as vista... it should install in theory. . .BUT there will be no driver support and you will have very limited functionality in VISTA.

You can always still go through the actual chipset manufacturers for possible vista drivers. Intel, realtek, etc.
