ATI video card confusion

I have a Radeon 9700 Pro right now.
Is the Radeon 9800 Pro better/faster or not?
So confusing, and the ATI website tells you close to nothing.
Thanks a lot!

Okay, the difference is minimal..only a few extra MHz on the engine and clock, and an extra 128 MB of RAM. Honestly, unless you're a speed/framerate junkie, there's no big reason to upgrade yet.

the 9800pro is a better vid card. Check out Tom's hardware guide for some good articles that have some good comparisons.

Here are some benchmarks that have comparisons of the two.

The 9700 is a really good card though. I think I read somewhere that with some tweaking and over clocking, you can get the 9700 performing as well as a 9800.

Wasn't planning to upgrade, was planning to get an additional card for a new system I would be building, so it sounds like this is what I want. The 128MB version can be found for $199 after rebate right now, which is a pretty good deal, I think.
Thanks,

Well, my 9500 is already "tweaked" to be a 9700 Pro (flashed BIOS) so that is probably as far as it is going to go! <grin> Wanted to get an additional card for another system, so I guess the 9800 Pro it is.
Thanks,
