When does the summer discount sale start?

Hello, I am planning to buy a macbook white but it is a little bit pricey. I was wondering when does the summer discount for apple products start? I was hopeing there might be a sale for students going back to school.

There is no discount sale. There's cram&jam—I think they're still calling it that—which is the student discount and generally a 200 dollar rebate towards an iPod.

It usually starts around July or August.

If I am not mistaking, Student Discount is all year round, last time I checked, since a semester can start anytime, anywhere.

Yeah, the Student Discount is year round, but there are no discounts specifically for the summer.

There have been times where Amazon has offered rebates on their Macs. Usually when a new revision comes out Amazon drops the prices on the older models and continues to honor the rebates. Of late, I haven't seen the Mac rebates listed on their products though. :-(

I am thinking of buying the high end macbook, the $1600 one, but with the college discount i would get it at $1500 ($1640) after tax. It is a pretty big investment for me, so my question is... should I wait a bit and maybe something new is about to come out or should I just go ahead and purchase this one?

Rule of thumb with computers: If you can wait, wait. If you absolutely need a computer now, get it.
