Behold : the search function proves effective, yet again.

Believe the same policy was/is effective on the NP8790.

Do people hate the WXGA screen so much? Am I the only one out there that likes 1440x900? I have enough problems altering .ini files to play games as it is, I can't imagine the trouble with 1680 x 1050.

To me, it's all about having more screen to work with, beyond just playing games. With the higher resolution, you can have more windows/apps open at once. It's great if you work with several documents at the same time. Also, higher resolution = smaller/more pixels = sharper picture.

Yep, I bought the 8790 more for work than just for games. The extra resolution will do me good for what I will use it for, and for games I will just turn down the resolution... no biggie. A little less sharp, but not the end of the world.

Well, it's not harder to make games run at 1680x1050 than any other widescreen res (although gettinga good frame rate is another matter).

I guess the point is that if you've seen the stunning sharpness of a 15.4" WUXGA panel, the current WXGA 17 inch panels actually look pretty grainy. Its all relative.

Yeah..I've been using highquality crts and lcds for a while and I've gotten to the point where i can see the pixels on a tv from 4-5' away. Creepy. But in reality, if you're gonna be working on things that require that much space (WUXGA) you can always hook the 8790 to an extra monitor.
