Hi All,
I have inspiron 4100, that can not boot up.
Once I press the on/off button, the power and HD light on the right site on steady and the middle light (have 3 light) next to on/off button keep blinking for 5-7 sec, then all light is off.
just before this happen 3-4 days ago, the notebook working properly.

Any idea what was wrong with my notebook ?
Also is there any site that can explain what that light code error meaning ? (I believe that steady light (power & HD) and blinking middle light have some meaning)

Thanks for any advice/ reply.

swap your memory chips if you have 2 of them,

try one at a time

Hi..,
thanks for the reply.
I tried swap the memory card :
- left to right, right to left,
- 1 only in left, 1 only in right,
- 1 other only in left, 1 other only in right,
- even with out any memory card.

all give same result, no boot up, power and hd light on the right site on steady and middle light next to power button, blink for 5-7 sec, then all light turn off.

any other step I should try ?

The other thing to try is to remove the hard drive, Cd ROM, and try the memory swap above,

If it still does not work, most likely your motherboard is no good.
