D630 expansion slot - normal PCMCIA or express capable?

How actually the expansion slot on D630 works? Is it just a normal old type PCMCIA?

I bought something Express34 to PCMCIA converter adapter, but not working for my eSata/34 and 3.5G/34 card.

Below is what written on Dell website:-

PC Card:
One Type I or Type II
Supports 34mm ExpressCard via USB interface through PCMCIA adapter

What is "via USB interface through PCMCIA adapter"?? How the h8ck "USB" is involved here? What is the actual bandwidth i can have by using adapter, normal PCMCIA bandwidth or PCIe x1?

Expert please help me clear the confusion. Thank you.

The D630 has a normal PCMCIA socket. The adapter you bought is a basically a USB controller with an Expresscard physical connection. See, expresscard can use either PCIe bus or a USB connection depending on what the manufacturer of the peripheral chooses. Odds are the card you have needs the PCI Express connection which no adapter I know of supports.
