Hello,

My laptop is an Hp Pavilion dv 2830 Es with Windows Vista (Home Premium).

When I try to shut it down it doesn't work sometimes..instead it restarts and I have to shut down pushing the switching on/off button.

Could anybody help me please?? I have asked HP technical service and the only solution they gave me was to use the recovery CDrom... I have done it but after 2 or 3 weeks it starts doing the same thing and I again cannot shut it down.

Anyone HELP me PLEASE!

Thanks a lot!!

Is your network adapter (ethernet) connected? If so, go into Device Manager and find it. Then open its properties and under the "advanced" tab, find "wake from shutdown". If it's on, turn it off.

Yes, I do use an ethernet connection. But I don't really see how this is related with my problem.

The problem that when I try to switch it off it restarts instead also happens when my laptop isn't conected to the internet anyhow..

thanks a lot!

The setting I told you about will automatically turn on your computer from powered off if it detects an active network connection, so it would seem like the computer never stayed off when you shut it down, but instead starts up again almost immediately after like a restart.
