Prob with dell xps 1530

i have a dell xps 1530 and... I don't know if anyone else has had this same problem but any time i try to play a sub par game i have serious problems. no matter how low i set the resolution any game will eventually start running at about 5 frames per second and become completely unplayabe. i understand my laptop isn't the greatest for gaming but it should at least get 15 fps at least. and it does for about a minute... this is specifically happening in my recently purchased GTA 4... i have it at the lowest settings and it works great for a second but then overheats after a little bit. I purchased a laptop cooler a while ago and it does not fix my problem.. so did i just buy this thing that doesn't work like its supposed to? do i just have not use it for games???


nvidia 8600gt 4 gigs ram 2.4duo core, i've had it about ten months

Not sure about gaming with the 8600 gpu series, mine is a dud within the sony

But the heating up can be of concerns. Tried searching for patches at GTA site?

Sounds like an overheating issue likely caused by clogged up cooling which is common for a notebook 10 months old. Easiest solution is to purchase some compressed air then shoot into the vents (while the notebook is powered off) and preferably somewhere outside so the dust wont coat your desk.

i tried that about a week ago and i still have the overheating problem... the dell person told me that my cpu wasn't good enough for the games.. so .. whatever ...good bye 1600 bucks!!!

GTA4 doesn't run well on machines with alot more power than what you have in your system. Do other games exhibit the same poor performance?

yeah i figured... well mass effect does the same thing. even when i turn everything down. runs well then super overheats. however it runs fear 2 pretty well

xps 1530 geforce 8600gt m 4 gigs ram 2.4 duo core
