Harddrive space capability for vostro 1500

Hi, I got this vostro at the end of 2007 and coincidentally my warranty is up so it wont let me chat with technical support or something... The motherboard is a Mobile Intel® GM965 Express Chipset and I was trying to figure out if I could put a 500gb harddrive in this laptop because the current one has defective sectors.

Is this possible without any problems?
